History
Edit
Tekken 3
Edit
Eddy was born into one of the richest families in Brazil. Ever since he was a small boy, he knew he would one day take over the family business. He was well-liked in his home town because he was a hard worker who treated others as his equals.
One day, when he was 19, Eddy came home from school to find his father shot and dying. He recalled that his father had been unusually nervous and fearful in recent weeks.
Eddy's father was working to destroy a drug business in Brazil at the time. His untimely death occurred just when he had obtained enough evidence to put the kingpins away for good. In his last breaths, Eddy's father told him, "Now is not the right time to fight. Falsely admit to the crime and hide in prison. Only there will you be safe". Eddy went along with his father's last wish and the model student went from a life of luxury to incarceration as a murderer.
Prison life was hell and not a day went by that Eddy didn't vow to get even with his father's killers. One day during a prison riot he watched an old man with great power fighting with a technique he called Capoeira. For eight years Eddy practiced until he became a master and could be considered a lethal weapon.
Upon his release from prison, Eddy heard about the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 and the Mishima Financial Empire (MFE). He decided to enter the tournament, believing he could persuade the MFE to help him seek his long-awaited revenge.
Tekken 4
Edit
Although Eddy Gordo was a playable character in Tekken 4, he wasn't an actual participant in the tournament. It was implied that Eddy has disappeared during the fourth tournament to seek vengeance against the person responsible for the death of his father (later turned out to be Kazuya Mishima). His student, also the granddaughter of his master, Christie Monteiro, entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to find Eddy, as this was the only clue that can lead her to him.
Tekken 5
Edit
Eddy's master was about to be freed from prison after a long incarceration. Eddy went to the prison to meet his master but instead found a frail old man that was only a shadow of the strong Capoeira master he once knew.
Upon taking his master to a hospital, Eddy was told his master had an incurable illness and had less than six months to live. However, it may be possible to discover a cure if they had access to the technology and resources of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Several days later, Eddy decides to enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 with Christie.
Tekken 6
Edit
At the conclusion of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Eddy spoke alone with Jin Kazama. Jin offered to lend him his money and resources to save his master's life. If Eddy joined the Tekken Force, he promised to find a cure for Eddy's master's illness.
Eddy joins the Tekken Force, and he is involved with a number of criminal operations just as The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 approaches.
Ending:
Christie is shown standing at a grave with a coffin that hasn't been buried yet. Her grandfather has died. Christie places both hands together and weeps for her fallen grandpa. Suddenly, Eddy Gordo arrives and stands next to her. Christie slaps him in the face asking him where he was, but then gives up and places her hands and head onto his chest as she cries. Eddy clenches his fist and throws a pin badge to the ground, breaking it slightly. Jin Kazama's branding/tattoo is shown on the triangular shaped badge, implying he decided to quit the Tekken Force after realizing it was all for nothing.
Note: This ending is same as Christie's.

Trivia
Edit
in General:
- Eddy is considered a master; the default color of his cords (a sign of rank in Capoeira) is white. In certain capoeira groups a white colored cord is the highest rank attained.
- Originally a female Capoeira martial artist was wanted to be introduced in Tekken 3 but the possible graphics at the time wasn't considered good enough for the female they wanted in the game, so Eddy was created instead, Christie was later introduced in the following game.
- There has been some debate on whether Eddy and Christie have been good for the art of Capoeira. On one hand, they have popularized the Brazilian martial art, but, on the other, they are adding to the misconceptions about the art. Capoeira still has strong underlying philosophies which haven't been separated to create a corporate sport, like what has happened to most martial arts.
- Gordo, in Brazilian Portuguese, means "fat".
- Namco invited Mestre Marcelo to Japan and digitized his moves for the use of Eddy Gordo, Christie Monteiro and Tiger Jackson.
- Eddy Gordo's nickname, Faisca, means "spark" in Portuguese and was used by Mestre Marcelo as a nickname to one of his students.
- Some of Eddy's moves are gymnastics, not capoeira. Specifically the flare, windmill, and handstand movements.
- Since Christie's debut, up until Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Eddy did not have an ending animation of his own. Instead, he shared his endings with Christie.
- In Tekken 6, Eddy can be customized to look like Tiger Jackson as well as Wally from the Where's Wally books and Bob Makihara from the Tenjo Tenge series.
- Eddy had never spoken in any of his endings up until Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
- Eddy is known primarily in the ring for his special ability, the "Raging Demon" whereby he strikes the opponent 1000 times within a matter of seconds.
- Eddy is mentioned in comedian Dane Cook's skit about the time he saw a guy getting hit by a car {"He gets hit right in his center of gravity, that sends you flipping through the air like Eddy Gordo from Tekken when somebody doesn't know how to do combos and they're just hitting the buttons randomly..."}.
- Eddy Gordo's bosses in the Tekken Force side game in Tekken 3 are (in order of appearance) Julia Chang, Gun Jack, Tiger Jackson, and Heihachi Mishima.
- In Tekken Tag Tournament, there is a glitch with Eddy (and Tiger) when he is used as a Practice Mode dummy. All attacks performed on Eddy are read as a combo string, and it doesn't reset until you hit him to the ground or into full crouch.
- He has an interlude with Hwoarang.
- Eddy's signature Green and yellow attire is also avalible to wear in blue and white.
- In Tekken 4, Eddy is selectable by pressing "Triangle" while on Christie at the "Character Select" screen.

- In Tekken 5, Eddy is selectable by first purchasing Christie's alternate costume in the "Customize" section. Afterwards, he can be chosen by pressing "Triangle" or "Circle" while on Christie at the "Character Select" screen.
- Strangely, if you play as Christie, you can see the camera moves while Christie dances. But if you play as Eddy, you can see the camera doesn't move while Eddy dances. It maybe due to mistake while the game on development. Although, Namco hasn't confirmed this until present.
- Eddy's sub-bosses at Stage 4 and Stage 7 are Christie and Kazuya, respectively.
- From Dark Resurrection and onwards, Eddy has his own section on the "Character Select" screen.
- This is the last game where Eddy can slap back at either Nina or Anna.
- In an early Tekken 6 image, Eddy appeared to be returning as a costume swap for Christie Monteiro. However, this was revealed to be false, as Tekken 6's "Character Select" screen shows that Eddy has his own character space.
- In the Scenario Campaign mode, Eddy is shown in a cutscene with Nina Williams and Jin Kazama after Lars Alexandersson attacked the lab Alisa Bosconovitch was in. Eddy tells Jin that he'll hold his part of the deal for saving his master's life.
- In the Scenario Campaign mode, Eddy serves as the boss of the "Tekken Force 4th Special Forces Operational Group Command" stage.
- Eddy's first three opponents in Scenario Campaign's "Arena" mode are Lars Alexandersson, Anna Williams, and Kazuya Mishima (his parents' murderer).
- In Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, Eddy is voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who's best known for currently voicing Resident Evil hero, Chris Redfield.
