Lili tk7 customize

Lili's customization in Tekken 7

Customize is a mode where the player can customize each of the character's costumes separately and also put on additional items. The customization system started in Tekken 5 and has returned for all subsequent installments.

Players can buy customization items for their character with fight money. The fight money is also called "G". Players can earn fight money by completing battles in different modes.

Tekken 5[]

Fight money was first introduced as a small prize after every fight while players were locked to a single character per Tekken 5 Card. Fighting other players, however, would increase the yield, and a small roulette can occur to award the winning player with extra money. In the arcade versions, including Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, items were purchased during the Character Select Screen, but there was no way for one to get a preview of the item they purchased.

Both the console Tekken 5 and the PSP version of Dark Resurrection would now rectify the issue by showing off the customization items on the customization screen, though the former would only show the item only after it was purchased. Also exclusively in the console version, reaching certain ranks would yield a large bounty of gold to the player.

Tekken 6[]

In the arcade version, players were still locked to a single character and could purchase items during the character select screen. Like Tekken 5, there was no way to preview items purchased until after they had been bought. During fights, the player has a chance to obtain a Lucky Roulette, a random roulette game that occurs after any fight, and is indicated by red flashing lights at the bottom of the screen.

As of Tekken 6, fight money can also be earned from winning online matches. It offers a mass option in customization for characters and plays a part in the cosplay aspect with its various decisions. The players can change their costumes within tops, gloves, bottoms, and footwear. Certain items in the arcade version were also merged in the PSP version such as Hwoarang's jackets and inner shirts or were outright excluded, including some Item Moves. Like the console ports of Tekken 5 reaching certain ranks with characters offline will yield a large amount of fight money.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2[]

In Tekken Tag Tournament 2, fight money can be doubled or tripled due to lucky boxes being received after an online victory. On offline mode, special customization items can be unlocked while playing Ghost Battle. This game is also said to have one of the better customization modes, similar to Tekken 6, based on the details. Starting from this game onward, tops and gloves as well as bottoms and footwear are now combined into single sets. Additionally, previews for characters with a constantly moving pose like Hwoarang, Eddy Gordo, or Christie Monteiro were now done with the characters standing stationary. Decals were added in console versions, though, evidently, this option was removed in the Xbox 360 version, and was not retained in the Wii U version.

In the arcade version, fight money was obtained from clearing any fight though player battles yielded more money than those with CPUs. Additionally, there were "Jackpots", a gauge that increases after every player battle until it reaches 1,000,000 g. When full, there will be a random chance for the players fighting in the current battle to obtain the prize.[1] Unlike the console version, fight money obtained from Lucky Boxes were raw values given rather than multipliers. Due to the game's format, customization was done through the online service, Tekken-Net, where players needed to register their Bandai Namco Passport Card before being able to access their player profile to customize their character. The website would feature previews of equippable items, but had the problematic issue of never reflecting custom colors selected. The international site would become defunct in March 2018, removing any ability to customize or even start a player profile, and the Japanese site would later follow some time after Tekken 7: Fated Retribution: Round 2.

Tekken 3D: Prime Edition[]

There is also some form of a customization mode in Tekken 3D: Prime Edition; however, this mode is only enabled after a certain rank is sustained. Moreover, customizations are more like palette swaps of characters' default outfits.

Tekken Revolution[]

In Tekken Revolution, there are virtually no customization options. Instead, there are outfits for each character that are also palette swaps of most of their customization from TTT2. Unfortunately, they must be purchased via PlayStation Network.

Tekken 7[]

In Tekken 7, the customization isn't as detailed as Tekken 6 and TTT2. It is lacking in clothing options and hairstyles, but still offers a similar setup. Previous fighters' outfits can be bought and unique outfits unlocked for new characters. Some costumes for each character in the customization mode need to be unlocked using Treasure Battle or the online Tournament mode, including the Rainbow Hairstyle. The player can also change the color of the chosen customization outfits.

Some customization can only be obtained by buying a Season Pass, like the Metallic hairstyle and Metallic outfits for characters. For instance, in Tekken 7 Season Pass 2, the player gains access to Tekken World Tour Set (costume items featuring the Tekken World Tour logo), SUMMER LESSON Set (hairstyles, costumes, accessories, and player customization items), and new effects.

Season Pass 3 added new character customization sets that include glasses, accessories, hairstyles, facial hair, effects, and auras.

Tekken 8[]

In Tekken 8, the customization becomes more intricately detailed than in Tekken 7, and also allows for more precise control over color similarly to Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and more character-specific items such as in Tekken 6. A separate slot has also been added for customizing the characters' footwear. Unlike in Tekken 7, where many characters appeared in the customization screen in their fighting stance, all characters now appear standing while being customized. When customizations are unequipped, characters are depicted wearing a plain shirt, jeans with a belt around the waist, sneakers, and a pair of black fingerless gloves.

Items can also be adjusted for size and position on the section of the character they are placed on. This feature is similar to the Soul series' customizations as they appeared in later games.

Arcade Quest also allows the player to customize their avatar from cosmetic details to clothing and accessories.
