Hwoarang is a Korean fighter known for his distinctly orange hair. He is a Taekwondo practitioner, student of Baek Doo San. Despite being somewhat leaner than characters like Jin Kazama, he's still well built with a muscular physique with well toned legs as seen in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. His main outfits are his biker outfit and his Taekwondo dobok which he wears open to show his chest and and stomach. His main biker outfit has went through slight changes; In Tekken 3 he has a sleeveless tank top with goggles and chaps with jeans, while in Tekken 5 his tank top is replaced with a more intricate biker style vest that coordinates with his chaps and shoes that also became more refined.

In Tekken 6 his biker outfit receives a final rework, with it becoming a more revealing biker vest that's unzipped to expose some of his chest and is short enough to show his lower back and lower stomach, complete with a small new necklace and further detailed chaps and jeans and boots. His new default in Tekken 7 is now a tight short sleeve white short that's short enough to show his lower stomach, with jeans sagging slightly to show his underwear and steel toe boots with a blue jacket that hangs from his neck with a chain. He also has dyed black hair with a single orange copper streak and he wears an eye patch over his right eye. Other attires he wears in the games vary from street wear like open puffer jackets and jeans to designer shirts and pants and even a suit that Baek wore. His hairstyles also vary, allowing him to wear a short ponytail, colored feathery hair, or even slicked back.

Tekken 3

Hwoarang made his debut in Tekken 3 and had two selectable outfits, as with two other characters in the game.

Hwoarang's Player 1 outfit shows him wearing a white, long sleeved Taekwondo dobok with a black stripe along the seams, with matching pants and bandana, and a black belt. He also sports fingerless blue gloves and blue footpads that expose his heels and toes. His name is printed on the back of the shirt. Hwoarang has orange dyed shoulder length hair parted down the middle.

He is also wearing motorcycle goggles which are pushed up out of the way. His hair has been brushed back since the goggles would stop it from returning to its natural position.

In his ending, he is initially not wearing his motorcycle goggles but he later put back his motorcycle goggles on when he is about to fight off the Tekken Forces to rescue his rival, Jin.

Tekken 5 saw Hwoarang returned to the outfits he wore in Tekken 3 with minor changes. Note that starting with Tekken 5, players are now given the option to customize their character's appearance at the cost of prize money won from fighting.

Player 1 outfit:

Hwoarang's Player 1 outfit is identical that of Tekken 3, with the addition of the eagle design from Tekken 4 on the back, the South Korean flag on his chest and his blue gloves now have a taegeuk on them. His belt is similar to that from Tekken 4.

  • In Dark Resurrection his dobok and headband receive minor palette swaps, with his dobok and headband changed to blue and his gloves and footguards changed to red.

He later wears this in Baek's ending in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Player 2 outfit:

In Tekken 5, Hwoarang's biker outfit resembles to his Tekken 3 outfit but with a green and light brown vest and blue jeans with black leather chaps along each side with seven leather straps tied to each leg. He also wears a brown leather belt with a large buckle, white-lensed motorcycle goggles on forehead, black leather fingerless gloves and brown steel-capped cowboy boots with spurs.

  • In Dark Resurrection he receives a minor palette swapped outfit, with his vest, chaps and boots being colored yellow.

In both Baek and his ending, Hwoarang wears this outfit.

He also wears dark brown steel-capped leather cowboy boots with spurs.

  • This outfit is also shown in extended trailer of Tekken 6 alongside Lili where he uses his motorcycle to ram his rival, Jin in explosion and later he briefly fights Jin's devil form, Devil Jin. He later wears this in both Baek and his ending when they are involved in the battle against Azazel.

Hwoarang's biker outfit consists of his Tekken 6 vest with the Tekken 5 colour scheme and his Tekken 6 blue jeans, with his chaps being colored green, like his vest. He maintains his two brown leather straps tied to his left foot and his red flame-like designs from Tekken 6. However, his fingerless gloves and steel-capped cowboy boots are light brown. In the Character Story Mode, he wears this outfit when facing off against Devil Jin as well as both of their endings.

Hwoarang new outfit

Hwoarang as he appears in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

In Fated Retribution update where he still wears his previous bike outfit's belt, his bike gloves are recolored to black. He now wears a white short sleeve fitted shirt that has a red sun mark on the left front of the shirt which is below his lower abs, a black elbow band that resembles a spandex has a white flame mark on his right arm, a blue cape that resembles a leather jacket with a middle chain and has a black skull design at the back of his leather jacket, a black jeans that has left sided two zippers on the middle and the white flaming skull mark on the lower, the red line of his boxers with the sign "Boston Red" within his black jeans, and brown shoes with a front metallic shark figure. He also dyes his hair to black, while keeping his orange color part as a line on a middle right. He also has a black eyepatch on his right eye and a spiky necklace on his neck. The reason why Hwoarang wears the eyepatch on the right is unknown, presumably to have lost his right eye. It is later revealed when he saves his rival Jin by throwing off the ground or kicking his devil form away from being hurled a grenade in explosion by one of the Arab soldiers at the cost of losing his right eye.
